Stop Learning and Start Doing!
Learning is a must in our lives and we should never stop. The day you stop learning is the day you die. The problem however is when you ONLY learn and never DO. There are many people who are career students. They never get a real job. They just stay in graduate school earning degree after degree. There comes a time where you have to say “enough already” and apply what you have learned to make yourself and your life more productive.
I am also sometimes guilty of learning too much and not doing. This was true for affiliate marketing for me. I kept reading web site after web site and article after article of how to DO affiliate marketing. I would consistently see these affiliate marketers apply what they new and earn decent money. But I would consistently think to myself that I wasn’t ready and I needed to know more.
The truth was that I was scared to put the work needed into an affiliate marketing project and fail at it. I was afraid to lose all that time and effort. Then one day I got very tired of seeing everyone else making money at this stuff and I decided to give it a try. Guess what? I failed! The first week my web site got 3 visitors. And 2 of those visitors were my own family. I also did not receive 1 single click on my ads.
I then LEARNED that it was the best thing that could have happened to me. I LEARNED what didn’t work! I learned that my tactic was not successful. You can bet that I would not be trying that approach again and it got me one step closer to what would work. Thomas Edison failed 99 out of 100 times but he had said that he learned the 99 ways something didn’t work which got him that much closer to the 1 time it did work.
So stop learning for a bit. Put the book down. Close the web site you were reading and begin to take the first step in actually doing what you set out to do. Then begin to learn what doesn’t work so that you can get closer to what does work.
